The Strange Wyvern Khezu (フルフル, furufuru) is a Flying Wyvern introduced in the original Monster Hunter.

Physiology and Abilities

These unique creatures possess large round bodies covered in a white, pearlescent hide, they are characterized by their elastic necks, which they use to snatch prey while climbing on the ceiling of caves, their thin tails end in an extra orifice that "bites" into the floor when using most of its electric abilities, but also to hang from the ceiling with all of its other limbs free.

These monsters are cave dwellers, they use their superior sense of smell to make up for the blindness, their bodies can generate electricity to harm anything in their vicinity, and they are also able to "spit" bolts of lightning at foes.

Characteristics: This monster's sight has degenerated over time, but it compensates for this with its well-honed sense of smell.
Its tail has evolved to resemble some kind of suction cup.
It paralyzes prey using the electricity-generating organ in its body, before moving in to strike with its extendable neck.

Useful Information: This monster will assail you with unpredictable attacks using its prehensile neck.
Its breath attack cannot be guarded against, and will induce paralysis if it connects.
Strong specimens will mix their electric and bite attacks in difficult-to-predict patterns.
However, its movements are slow, so its attacks can be easily avoided with due caution.

General Notes
  • Khezu's roar is Strong. Level 5 Earplugs nullifies it. (Rise: Level 4 Earplugs / Level 3 Defiance nullifies it.)
  • Khezu is a rare case of where while not classified as one, it is technically a Subspecies, since Red Khezu is the original species.
  • Khezu ranked 32nd place in the Top Monster competition during Monster Hunter's 20th Anniversary.[1]
