Water flowing along the ground: A male Ludroth that has grown to a large size and acts as the leader of the pack. It is also known as the "Water Beast" because it inhabits water, both freshwater and saltwater. What appears to be a mane around its neck are spongy scales also known as yellow collars, which contain moisture to prevent the epidermis from drying out and aid in its movements on land. It also uses its huge body to lunge at prey or enemies, and the water spurting from its mane leaves the opponent drowning when it comes into contact with them. There is still a ghost story that local residents once mistook it for a woman with wet hair and a snake-like lower body.
Diet and Behavior: A wide variety of creatures gather in the cave, and there are many places to hide. We see them when they come out to shallow waters, and they are known to swim faster underwater than on land. In addition, all the Ludroth that accompany Royal Ludroth are female, and they form colonies consisting of several females per male.
Distinctive Body Parts: The scales that cover its long body shine with a dazzling brilliance, polished by the water. When held up to the sun, the light reflects in a diffuse manner, creating an indescribable beauty. What stands out about its supple body are its front legs, which are extremely strong and sturdy, reminiscent of Fanged Wyverns. It is unclear whether these developed to help it paddle in the water while living underwater, or whether they are remnants of its ancestors that once lived on land.
Hunting Guide: It is known that it is more active and violent near water, and relentlessly pursues its prey. In addition to compressing the Aqua Sac inside its body to squirt out powerful water blasts, it also absorbs water stored in special holes in its skin, mixes it with bodily fluids, and spits out a viscous liquid. It seems that it loses vitality when it loses the water stored in its yellow collar, so it rolls around in the water or heads to a waterfall to recover.
Struggle for Survival - Turf Wars: There are many large monsters that feed in the rich waters of this area, including Somnacanth, Tetranadon, Jyuratodus, and Almudron. Although fierce territorial disputes do occur, the area remains relatively peaceful, likely because each monster has a different preference, with the Royal Ludroth tending to prefer running water, the Tetranadon preferring gravel areas, and the Almudron preferring stagnant, muddy waters, and their ecological niches are well differentiated.
Mane on its Neck: Spongy tissue with elasticity and high water retention is a sign of a strong male.
Crest on its Head: A crest that rises when it becomes excited. Its size and number indicate its position in the herd.
Dash Extract in its Body: When the body is excited, an extract that suppresses muscle fatigue is produced and distributed throughout the body.

A male Leviathan that lives near water, both saltwater and freshwater. Also known as the "Water Beast." The sponge-like structure on its neck absorbs water to prevent its skin from drying out. This seems to enable it to live on land as well. When hunting, it spits out a special mucus and grabs its prey by trapping it under its feet.
Royal Ludroth’s Mane - The mane that grows from the chin to the back as if to show the dignity of the leader of the pack. This is a scale that has been altered to retain water, and hair-like fibers are formed from dead cells, which are then further structured in a mesh-like structure. This allows a large amount of water to accumulate. Inside the mane, there are spines that can be raised or lowered, and when there is a lot of water, they can be raised and the entire mane can be inflated. In addition to storing water, it also inflates to intimidate, and protects vital points from attacks by other people or enemies. In addition, the mane plays a very important role for Royal Ludroth, as it absorbs the stored water through special holes in the skin, mixes it with body fluids, and spits out a viscous liquid. Royal Ludroth hates dryness, and if its mane loses water, it becomes easily fatigued. In such cases, it has the habit of returning to the water to replenish its water supply.
Diet of Royal Ludroth and Ludroth - Both are omnivores with strong carnivorous tendencies, and eat a variety of animals, including crustaceans, fish, and meat. When hungry, they will eat algae, but they don't seem to like it that much. It seems that the younger ones catch fast-moving fish, and judging from the shape of their teeth, it is assumed that they eat a high proportion of crustaceans. However, when they gather in groups, they also prey on large aquatic herbivores such as Epioth, and adult males spend more time on land due to the development of their manes, so they may prey on Aptonoths. They are also alert to leftover food from carnivores, and as soon as they detect signs of hunting by other monsters, they will head to the hunting ground to get the leftovers. Therefore, it seems that making noise on the surface of the water will attract Ludroth. In particular, when Royal Ludroth is present, they sometimes steal the prey that other monsters have caught.
Royal Ludroth forming a harem - Unlike Jaggi, they do not have a highly social nature, such as hunting in groups in a planned manner. When a Royal Ludroth appears, the Ludroth seem to come out of hiding. They live in a group called a harem, with 10-20 Ludroth in each. The boss of the harem, the Royal Ludroth, is always on the lookout for other males and patrols his territory, so territorial disputes seem to be frequent. Therefore, a single Royal Ludroth reigns as the boss of the same harem for a short period of time. When Royal Ludroth fight for territory, they frequently move the five crests on their heads to intimidate their opponents. The amount of water stored in their manes is also a major factor in determining superiority, and to show the amount, they shake their bodies to scatter the water stored in their manes. Males that win such disputes can form larger harems.
Ludroth Breeding - During the hatching season, females move to live on land. At that time, the males, who have stored up a large amount of water, seem to water everyone on land. Ludroth are oviparous, digging holes in the sand to lay 1-4 eggs. Adults do not care for the young after hatching, and the young search for a group to belong to after growing up. As they would be swept away in places with fast ocean currents when they are young, they grow by eating lugworms and crustaceans in shallow waters or underwater where the currents are relatively calm.
