The Water Bewitching Bird Coral Pukei-Pukei (プケプケ亜種, pukepuke ashu) is a Bird Wyvern introduced in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne.

It is a Subspecies of Pukei-Pukei.

Physiology and Abilities

Coral Pukei-Pukei are medium sized bird wyverns known by their red scales and manes of vivid orange/red feathers. They have yellow eyeballs that are speckled brown, thin vertical irises, tan cheeks, and orange/red cresting adorning its head as if it were a mask. Coral Pukei-Pukei have rubbery four-pronged wings with visible bones to each end, as well as some feathers and a spike on their wing arms. They have long blue sticky tongues and an equally long but thin red/pink tail.

Its scales and feathers will shift towards deeper red coloring to intimidate foes and portray anger, as well as dullen to appear lesser than, and portray tiredness. Coral Pukei-Pukei's chin pouch and cheeks will expand upon drinking water from coral beds, and its tail massively inflates when filled with water.

Coral Pukei-Pukei are capable of attacking with their long elastic tongues, can spit water out of its mouth, and spew water jets out its tail. Coral Pukei-Pukei can eject two water jets at the same time, and can hover midair and spray a water jet in a circular motion.

Characteristics: A type of bird wyvern that stores large quantities of water in its body. It launches powerful water attacks from its mouth and tail. Considered a subspecies of Pukei-Pukei. Useful Information: This monster attacks by unleashing a barrage of water attacks from long range. Remaining at a distance will leave you vulnerable to its most dangerous attacks, so it would be prudent to move in to close quarters. By breaking its head, some of its water attacks may be considerably weakened. Furthermore, any water attacks performed using its tail may be halted by severing the tail. Habitats: Forest, Swamp

General Notes

• Its head and wings (individual) can be broken, and its tail severed.
  • Severing Coral Pukei-Pukei's tail will greatly hinder its tail water attacks.
• The water splashes it creates with its tail water jets can briefly create rainbows, akin to real life.
• Coral Pukei-Pukei ranked 175th place in the Top Monster competition during Monster Hunter's 20th Anniversary.
