The Slashing Wyvern Glavenus (ディノバルド, dinobarudo) is a Brute Wyvern introduced in Monster Hunter Generations.
Physiology and Abilities
Glavenus are large bipedal brute wyverns best known for their giant razor-sharp tails. Glavenus has red scales over its body with blue plating on its head and legs, shinier blue metal on its tail, and blue spike protrusions on its back. It has tiny unused forearms.
Glavenus can drag its Great Sword-like tail against walls or the ground and can set the tail blade on fire. The flaming sword tail will become blackened and dull after a while, so Glavenus will bite the tail to both sharpen it and to gather explosive ash in its mouth, which can be spit as an explosive projectile.
Glavenus are the male part of a sexually dimorphic species, but where or what their female partners are is currently unknown.
Description
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne | |
---|---|
A brute wyvern that wields its heavy, blue tail like a blade. It grows hotter and more keen with each strike until it glows red. Once red hot, its tail will begin to rust and the monster will sharpen it anew with its fangs, storing the slag to expel as fiery breath. Strike its throat when it glows red. |
Monster Hunter Generations | |
---|---|
A brute wyvern that can bring its mighty tail down on foes like a massive sword, decimating them in an explosion of flames created from the volatile components found in its scales. If its tail dulls from accumulated soot, a Glavenus will use its fangs to resharpen it. Threat Level: ★★★★★ Glavenus uses the soot and rust from sharpening its tail to create magma in its throat. Attacking its head when its neck glows red can prompt an explosion in its mouth, but beware it doesn't incinerate you instead. |
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin | |
---|---|
Brute Wyverns with long, sword-like tails, sharpened on their fearsome fangs. Their well-developed hind legs allow them to effortlessly chase down prey, which they then slash at with their monstrous tails. |
