The Felyne (アイルー, airuu) is a small Lynian introduced in the original Monster Hunter.

Physiology and Abilities

Felyne are small bipedal (can run quadrupedal) lynians, whose classification have the rare trait of sentience and ability of speech among monster kind. Felyne have small little villages in the wild, but many move in to Human settlements, and can work in many trades such as hunting as a Palico, or cooking for hunters and residents as an expert cook. Even extremely reserved Wyverian cultures that frown upon Humans will still allow Felyne-kind to live among them.

Felyne that work as Palico aren't as strong as the player Hunter, but still have unique abilities to aid their partner with. They are also playable as a Prowler in Monster Hunter Generations and Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate.

Felyne that live in the wild unaffiliated with Human-kind are usually docile and will not attack Hunters unless they are attacked first, in which they will swing their picks at and charge into their foe with large barrel bombs.
