Tentative Features

  • Rathalos returns.
  • The game appears to take place within a landmass known as the "Forbidden Land", specific locales include:
    • Windward Plains, a vast desert and savannah with strange spires that act as thunder rod.
    • Scarlet Forest, a towering forest with strange red flowers and silky webbing, sometimes the area becomes flooded.
    • Oilwell Basin, an underground locale filled with flammable oil and ancient furnaces, sometimes the oil catches on fire.
  • Kunafa, a village home to the Seikret and the playable Hunter, known for its cheese making.
  • Wudwud, a race of intelligent and friendly lynians that inhabit the Scarlet Forest.
  • Focus Mode, a new gameplay mechanic that allows hunters to better aim their attacks to specific parts, intended to ease newcomers into the action.
  • Riding on a Seikret, possibly a Bird Wyvern, which can glide and apparently carries extra supplies and one extra weapon.
  • Power Clash, a cinematic mechanic allowing guarding weapons like Lance and Heavy Bowgun to parry against certain large monster attacks.
  • New monsters, including:
    • Ceratonoth, a monster similar to a pangolin, with two variants, with the larger one seeming to act as a thunder rod.
    • Dalthydon, a monster similar to a Gastodon with a goat's face, they live in herds with their youngs.
    • Doshaguma, a large and aggressive fanged beast that appears to hunt in packs led by a larger individual with a red coloration.
    • Chatacabra, a large ape-like amphibian with a stretchy tongue and a sticky saliva that is used to affix rocks and stones to its muscular forearms to increase power.
    • Balahara, a leviathan that forms swarms and lives in the sand dunes.
    • Lala Barina, a Temnoceran with a deadly stinger and white fur that can shift to petal-like red fur, releasing paralyzing flower spores.
    • Rey Dau, a thunder-element flying wyvern and the apex of the Windward Plains.
    • Gajios (ガジオス), a small Leviathan, lives near water and hunts Dalthydon.
    • Baunos, a Wingdrake similar to Noios.
    • Bulaqchi (ブブラチカ), a medium-sized Neopteron or Temnoceran that resembles a mosquito.
    • Talioth (タリオス), a small raptor with a slender body and a long bill, they can be seen attacking a Doshaguma, possibly being social predators like Velociprey and Jaggi.
    • Arkveld, an extinct monster that resembles a flywing wyvern with giant chain-like appendages on its arms.
    • Ajarakan, a large and fiery fanged beast of extreme musculature.
    • Rompopolo, a brute wyvern with an inflatable back and a beak that mimics a mosquito's face.
    • Black Flame, a monster of unknown classification that resembles a giant octopus, it appears to be covered in oil and is the apex of the Oilwell Basin.
    • Mernos can be seen in one of the safe camps, but it hasn't been seen in the wild.
  • New endemic life, including:
  • Changing environments, all locales have three distinct identities, one harsh and unforgiving (Fallow), another with rough weather (Inclemency), and another calm and brimming with life (Plenty).
    • This affects the wildlife and potentially the gatherable resources and difficulty of monsters.
  • The Slinger returns, with the addition of the Hook Slinger, which is capable of grabbing resource nodes from afar.
  • Hunters now remain in the map by default after a hunt, instead of being sent back to town.
  • Support Hunters are available when using an SOS Flare, similar to Sunbreak’s Follower system.
