Monster Hunter: World features numerous types of Quests, which give different rewards and pose varying challenges to the player.
One Quest Type that cannot be listed here are Investigations. These special quests are randomly generated by collecting Monster Tracks, and documenting all possible variations is as impossible as it would be unhelpful.
Assignments
Assignments are Quests that progress the main story of the game. These are unlocked through natural play, and cannot be repeated.

Optional Quests
Optional Quests are additional quests that allow for the further hunting of Monsters outside of the main story. While some of them are unlocked through natural story progression, others are only made available after a certain Monster has been seen or captured, or after the player has received the quest as a request from an NPC. Optional Quests can generally be repeated indefinetly.
