The following evolutionary tree diagram was originally published in Hunter's Encyclopedia 2 before eventually being republished in both Hunter's Encyclopedia G and Hunter's Encyclopedia (Reprinted Edition). It is an updated version of Evolutionary Tree - Hunter's Encyclopedia 1. See Category:Evolutionary Trees for a list of all published trees.
These diagrams are presented as having been created by the Royal Paleontological Scriveners, within the world of Monster Hunter. As none of those diagrams have ever appeared in officially localized English media, the names of the taxa below have no official English names.
The next updated version of the evolutionary tree to be released was Evolutionary Tree - Hunter's Encyclopedia G.
Notable Changes
- Species are now explicitly listed on the diagram, allowing them to be color-coded rather than the families of the previous version. Some detail on the nature of the investigation into unconfirmed creatures has been lost given the simplified color coding scheme.
- Additional monsters have been added to the diagram, resulting in the creation of new taxa, including four more Orders: Long Nose, Sharp Claw, Neopteron, and Ten-Legged.
- The Scarabaeid Beetle taxa that was newly added to the tree is listed as a Family, while the Rhinoceros Beetle taxa associated with it is listed as a Subfamily. This is the only Subfamily that appears in any tree diagram. Due to formatting constraints, this is not portrayed well on the diagram below, but this is improved in the other tree diagrams on this wiki.
- Unidentified ancestors that represent diverging evolutionary paths have been added to the tree as placeholder nodes. The node that will eventually be populated by the Fatalis family in later tree versions has been changed from "?" to this Unidentified label as well.
- Kanobus, Basilis, and Garusio have all been removed from the diagram. These were creatures listed as either discovered by or currently being investigated by the Scriveners in the previous version, but they were not directly attached to a specific clade.
- Wyvern-Rex has been changed to Rex and been more directly connected to the Brute Leg Suborder.
- Giaprey is not listed on the diagram for some reason, instead only Giadrome is listed. This is at odds with how other members of the Runner Wyvern Infraorder are displayed.

This tree was compiled by hunter John Arthur, former head of the Royal Palaeontological Scrivener Corps, based on the West Schrade Biological Tree which he compiled with the belief that "we should investigate the ecosystems of all living things, not just study paleontology." and includes the latest materials.
