The following evolutionary tree diagram was originally published in Hunter's Encyclopedia 1 before eventually being republished in both Hunter's Encyclopedia G and Hunter's Encyclopedia (Reprinted Edition). This is believed to be the first published evolutionary tree diagram. It was continually updated, with new iterations being released in different media. See Category:Evolutionary Trees for a list of all published trees.

These diagrams are presented as having been created by the Royal Paleontological Scriveners, within the world of Monster Hunter. As none of those diagrams have ever appeared in officially localized English media, the names of the taxa below have no official English names.

The next updated version of the evolutionary to be released was Evolutionary Tree - Hunter's Encyclopedia 2.

This tree is the first edition of a tree compiled based on the Giant Biological Tree compiled by our Royal Corps of Palaeontological Scribes and the Western Schrade Biological Tree compiled by our great predecessor, John Arthur.

Our research has revealed that some of the creatures that have been collectively referred to as "Flying Wyverns" based on their appearance did not descend from a common ancestor, but evolved from completely different lineages of creatures. Convergent evolution is an appropriate explanation for this phenomenon. In other words, different species of organisms have evolved traits that they think are best suited to adapt to the harsh environments they are exposed to, and as a result, they have come to possess traits that are very similar to one another. However, the findings of this study are still merely a hypothesis at this stage.

John Arthur, a former Chief Scrivener of the Royal Corps of Palaeontological Scriveners, and also a renowned hunter, wrote the Western Schrade Biological Tree based on his belief that "I will investigate the ecosystems of all living things, not just paleontology." He personally traveled to areas to gather information and actively undertook dangerous hunts. His attitude influenced many of the Scrivener Corps. However, one day, he disappeared into the deep forest, leaving behind the words, "There are still creatures in this region that have yet to be discovered." His whereabouts after that remain unknown.

This tree diagram not only reflects creatures whose appearances have been confirmed, but also creatures that have been discovered as fossils and are currently being investigated, and creatures whose existence cannot be confirmed but which are assumed to have certainly "existed" based on past literature, etc. The Royal Palaeontological Corps will continue to investigate these creatures.
